Jaime Baladrón, born in Bilbao in 1963, studied medicine at the University of Oviedo between 1981 and 1987, graduating with distinction.
In 1988, together with Dr. Aldecoa, he founded the Intensive Course MIR Asturias, dedicated to residency training, and through which over 25,000 doctors have passed over the last 22 years.
Between 1987 and 1989, he took a specialist course in Stomatology in Oviedo, and subsequently a course in Maxillofacial Surgery at the Río Hortega Hospital in Valladolid between 1989 and 1993, with Dr. Clavero.
During this period, he did training stints at hospitals in Oviedo, Mexico City, and at Pittsburg, New York, and Seattle (USA).
In 1992, together with his MIR Course colleagues, he published the book “Manual Intensivo para la Preparación del examen MIR” (Intensive Manual on How to Prepare for the MIR Examination), through the publishing house of Luzán 5.
He obtained his University Diploma in Orthodontics from the University of Nantes (France) in 1993, with Dr. Duchateaux.
In 1994, he obtained the Diploma in Craneofacial Surgery at the Hospital Manuel Gea González in Mexico City, with Dr. Molina.
In 1966, he obtained in Zurich (Switzerland) the diploma of Fellow of the European Board of Oro-Maxillofacial Surgery.
From 1995 to 2007 he devoted himself to private practice in maxillofacial surgery at his clinic in Oviedo (implants, oral surgery, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, and orthognathic surgery.
In 1997 he published the “Atlas de Cirugía Oral” (Atlas of Oral Surgery), through the publishing house of Ergón.
In 1999 he graduated summa cum laude as Doctor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Oviedo, producing his doctoral thesis on “Sistemas Expertos en Cirugía del Esqueleto Facial” (Expert Systems in Surgery of the Facial Skeleton).
In the year 2000 he published, together with a group of maxillofacial colleagues, the book “Cirugía Implantológica Avanzada” (Advanced Implantological Surgery), through the publishing house of Ergón.
In the year 2000 he was awarded the “Dentist of the Year” prize by the General Council of the Associations of Spanish Odontologists and Stomatologists.
In 2002, the Baladrón Clinic and MIR Courses gained ISO 9001 quality certification, which they have continued to renew annually to this date.
In 2005 he was admitted as Corresponding Academician to the Royal Academy of Medicine for the Principality of Asturias. The theme of his admission speech was “Maxillary reconstruction using bone grafts and dental implants.”
The Baladrón Clinic and MIR Courses win the EFQM European Excellence Award, with a level 200+ in 2007 and 400+ in 2008.
Since the end of 2007, wishing to give the highest quality of service to his patients, Dr. Baladrón has restricted his practice to jaw reconstruction through dental implants and bone and soft tissue grafts.
To date, his scientific activity has included arranging 24 courses, the publication of 34 books and book chapters, 84 articles in national and international journals, 69 course lectures, and 41 oral presentations, posters, and videos at congresses. He has attended 226 postgraduate training courses in Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, the United States, Mexico, and Argentina.
In 2010 he published in DVD format an “Atlas Multimedia de Cirugía Oral e Implantes” (Multimedia Atlas of Oral Surgery and Implants).
